The courses below have been developed to help guide and coach those who are emerging as managers to experienced leaders, in how to effectively manage and lead people in the current business environment. It is recommended that all courses have some level of customization to align with the organization’s mission, vision, values, culture, and objectives necessary to achieve results.

Are flexible and created to be facilitated as a stand-alone workshop or combined together for purposes of developing a six-month managing/leadership program

The Importance of the Leader’s Role in an Organization
It is not uncommon for a person to accept a role of leadership without consciously considering what that really means for themselves and for the people they will be leading.
During this interactive session, participants will experience and gain a new understanding of:
The importance of the role
The value of a leader in an organization
The distinction between an achiever, a manager, and a leader
Consciously choosing how to be both a manager and leader in an organization
Creating credibility with others
The commitments managers and leaders make in an organization
Each participant will leave the session having made their own commitment to how they will interact/’show up’ as a manager and leader.

Modeling Culture and Values
Every organization, no matter how small or large, has a unique culture and set of values and principles. Successful organizations consciously embrace their culture, cultivating their values and principles in their daily habits and practices. The impact in doing so is that employees are more connected, engaged and perform at a higher level.
During this interactive session, participants will experience and gain a new understanding of:
The importance of culture and values in organizations
Identifying one’s own values and alignment (or mismatch) to the organization
What embracing the culture and values looks like
The difference it makes when everyone in the organization is aligned
Each participant will leave the session with a sense of their own values and how they align with the organization. And, will have a better understanding of why ‘owning’ the culture and values as their own is critical to an organization’s success.

Onboarding and Offboarding Employees
Most organizations spend an enormous amount of time and expense searching for candidates to hire. The first impression that an employee has of an organization is during the search period. Organizations often overlook the importance of effective onboarding and for that matter, offboarding employees. When employees aren’t being considered during these two critical periods of their employment, engagement declines right from the beginning, and long-lasting impressions are made and shared outside of the organization.
During this interactive session, participants will experience and gain a new understanding of:
The importance of effectively onboarding employees
How to effectively onboard employees new to an organization
What about if an employee transfers to a new team? Does onboarding occur?

Communicating with Others
Communication is one of the most crucial competencies when interacting with others. While communicating is something that we do naturally, we may not always be consciously aware of how we’re providing or receiving communications. The purpose of this session is to help the new manager build upon and utilize communication that is both powerful and influences the outcome of building better relationships across an organization.
During this interactive session, participants will explore and learn:
Their natural way of communicating when interacting with others
Interpersonal skills and how it influences communication
What it means to listen effectively
How to truly connect with others
How to communicate with courage
The essentials of effective communications verbally and in writing
The effective use of communication tools available (verbal, written, email, and text)

How to Delegate Effectively
One of the biggest hurdles that leaders have in an organization is the ability to effectively delegate to their employees. The impact on people and organizations when this skill is not used effectively is significant.

Most leaders in organizations are not comfortable in providing feedback to employees unless it’s the type of feedback that makes both the leader and employee feel good. And, most times employees are looking for feedback that will make them more effective in their role in an organization.

Each day holds 24-hours. No more, no less. How can we capture the best use of our time as we balance our work and personal life?
During this interactive session, participants will experience and explore:
Time and how we are each individually choosing to spend it
What things are getting in our way of managing our time
How each person identifies with time (too much of, not enough of)
How to make the best use of the time we have

Conflict Management
Each of us has a particular style when dealing with conflict. Do you know what your style is and what you do when conflict arises?
During this interactive session, participants will take an assessment and learn:
What their conflict style is, in dealing with conflict
What other styles exist and how to interact with those styles
The importance of conflict in an organization
Types of models used to navigate through conflict
How to work through conflict using the crucial conversation model

Navigating Change
Change happens. Every day and in every way. Learning to navigate and lead others through change is a fundamental capability that everyone in an organization should possess. The sooner people are able to navigate through change, the faster change occurs with less disruption to an organization.
